I know - I’ve pretty much ignored this site lately. But I had to come back and say that I watched The Room last night with my roommate, and that movie never disappoints. While of course the entire thing was delightful, though, one scene still stands out from the rest: Me Underwears. And in lieu of posting a face (and I stopped posting here because I was starting to run out of faces anyway), instead I’ll post that scene… done in a different way. Enjoy Mike’s tragedy as you’ve never seen it before:

20th post here, another milestone-ish number. Thanks to all who’ve liked/reblogged/followed/in general showed that going to the extreme effort of posting one screencap and accompanying sentence a week was worth it. In return: this Mike face. He doesn’t have the look of a man about to be struck by tragedy… but that’s what makes for great ~~drama~~ black comedy, I suppose.

Love symbols

This is the 10th post here at FoM. Though that’s not a lot considering most of what I’ve posted here has consisted of a face and a few sentences at most, I decided for this one, as 10 is a milestone-y sounding number, I’d mix things up a bit. Some more after the jump…

Namely, instead of culling from the glorious “me underwears,” I’d select a face from the almost-as-infamous “chocolate is a symbol of love” scene. And let me tell you: if anything, Mike’s face performance in the latter scene is even better.

I took 12 screencaps total over the course of this 39-second clip (highly, highly recommended viewing, it should almost go without saying). I’m bullish on the entertainment value of every last one. Chocolate is a symbol of love, but Mike (Scott) Holmes’ facial contortion performance is a clear symbol of his love… for his audience. Safe to say, that audience loves him right back.

Sure, Mike was talking about underwears when he uttered the “pulls it out” line, but he could just as easily be referring to his ability to pull out some variation on the face you see above. Here’s a less-extreme version of it, and we’ll be tackling a different iteration here on FoM at some future point. For now, the above - which, for my money, ranks proudly among Mike’s best.

While Mike does look a little freaked, he’s not actually making that face as he delivers the “forgotten something” line, as best I can tell. (Again, watch the whole scene here, etc., etc.) Also, does he look especially fish-like in this photo, or is it just me?

Our hero looks uncharacteristically frightened here. As much of a tragedy as he had on his hands, he for the most part kept his cool throughout his retelling to Johnny. But whichever moment this was (I went back and tried to figure it out but couldn’t pinpoint it; check the scene for yourself here), the gravity of the situation finally overcame him. Understandable. After all, these weren’t just any underwears… these were he underwears.

And if you didn’t get the picture, Mike’s here to help… by making some variation on this face several times over the course of the Me Underwears Scene. Looking back at the screencaps I took the first time around, in fact, he made it so often that I got shots of what was essentially the same face a few times over. I don’t want to repeat myself on here if I can avoid it, but it’s a credit to how good the face (the one you see above, essentially, in various states of intensity) is that it kept being good enough to capture.

It looks like Mike’s concentrating hard, trying to size up the situation- but when I went back and watched the scene, it looked like he only made that face because he was embarrassed to admit he left his underwear behind (around the 40-second mark if you want to look yourself). Also listen for Johnny saying “underwear” under his breath right after Mike relays the tale. It, like everything else Tommy Wiseau does, is supremely creepy.
